Snaptraxx was specifically designed with a large surface area supporting the hull greatly reducing the high pressure point contact commonly associated with rollers. No, Snaptraxx is designed to totally encapsulate bare 2X6 lumber. We recommend removal of the old carpet, a thorough inspection of the lumber for damage, decay, and proper fastening to trailer. Replace as necessary.
Snaptraxx is designed with 11 snaps per 18 inch section to insure a permanent installation. It is very difficult, but not impossible to manually disassemble each section.
Snaptraxx is designed with drain holes every 3 inches to insure water is drained away from the bunk board.
Snaptraxx is designed to snap over and totally encapsulate 2 x 6 lumber. The 2 x 6 assembly can then be secured to the top of the timber. Another alternative can be viewed in the "Photo Gallery" picture #'s 5 & 7.
Fasten the assembly to the trailer by screwing lag bolts up thru the trailer brackets into the bunk board sandwiching Snaptraxx between the trailer bracket and the encapsulated bunk board.
Snaptraxx is perfect for aluminum boats. The slip sections will allow easy loading and unloading , while the grip sections will increase the stability of the boat on the trailer.
